What I'd really like to do for this project is something that features special effects makeup, as that's what I'm really interested in, and there is lots of room for experimentation with this. I could experiment visually by creating a look on someone, but then I could also add sound elements, such as adding a sound to a recording of someone with their special effects makeup, and then add some uncomfortable sound effects, as after watching Under The Skin, I have found myself wanting to experiment with how audio and visuals work together. For example, if you saw a recording of a small baby fox running round in circles, a light upbeat style of music would match it well to help exaggerate how free the fox is, and how young it is. What you wouldn't expect is a loud shrieking of a baby and a heavy drum beat. I would imagine this would make the audience feel uncomfortable. I want to really try to focus on trying to make the audience feel something rather than just watching it. I want it to be an experience.
This leads me onto the "interactive" part of the project. I was thinking of something like an exhibition with different sensory parts to it to see how the audience's emotions change. For example, I could see if red really is a colour representative of anger by having a section that is lit with red LED's and create an angry atmosphere and then experiment with some other sounds or something to see if it is possible to create a calm atmosphere for the audience with the red lighting.
I do feel slightly overwhelmed at the thought of how many options there are for this project, but whatever I decide to do, I'll be able to play around and hopefully come out with something really interesting. Below I'm going to post some special effects makeup looks that I find interesting that I'd like to try and recreate during this project. I keep thinking that doing a look for each emotion would be good, and then filming it in the black box studio with it lit to match the emotion, but I'm worried that this will be quite a common topic, as it is easy for the audience to relate to emotions, so I'm going to do some research too to see if there is anything else I can do that will tie in with the special effects makeup. I think that feelings might be a good one too, such as hunger, stress or something along those lines. I did consider doing a "seven deadly sins" type thing, however I've seen this done many times before and really I'd like to do something different, however I always have it as a backup option.

Another idea that I had for the "interactive" part was again staying with the idea of an exhibition, but creating something that looks different from a range of angles, so perhaps at some points the audience may need to lie on the floor, or stand next to it and look at it side long. I could also make the piece of art more sensory by having parts that the audience can feel, such as different textures like fur or wood. It would also be interesting to be able to stimulate all five senses, so I could maybe have different smells. I think that the taste part would be a bit difficult, but I'm sure I could attach some samples of food or something.
I also had another idea relating to the special effects part with the feelings and such. I thought that I could maybe do a series of videos of a person acting out the feelings, such as being stressed, and then they turn into the feeling/emotion, which is where the special effects makeup comes in. However the cons with this would be that it would be very time consuming as some makeup looks can take quite a while to create, but provided that I keep on track with things I should be okay. For now I'm going to keep thinking of ideas, as ideally, I'd like to do something really different.
I've also been looking on a website called Genero.tv which is where musicians, companies etc pitch briefs to the community of film makers, who then go off and create a video relating to the brief. The musicians/companies will then choose out of all the entries their winner, and usually the "winner" receives a cash prize. I thought that this sounded like a good place to look, as it will help give me lots of ideas, and if for example, a band want a music video created, it would give me chance to experiment with some visuals to go with the audio. There's some really interesting things on there, and although I most likely won't be entering anything as of yet, it's there for future reference. Below is a picture showing some of the companies and musicians that put briefs on genero.tv.

After giving some more thought to this project, I'm really interested in exploring emotions and feelings. I'd like to try out filming a short experimental piece where a persons emotions and feelings actually manifest into a visible physical thing or being. So for example, I could have some footage of someone being angry and then it cuts to someone wearing SFX makeup that represents anger. I could also play around with lighting and sound here. I could really experiment and find out what works and what doesn't- or if it will work at all. The only problem with this is that it may be quite time consuming, so I could maybe only manage a maximum of maybe 4 emotions, depending on whether or not they require a lot of attention. For example, some SFX looks are relatively fast if you begin creating prosthetics and things before hand, then all you'll have to do is attach them to the face using an adhesive and add some colour and blood.
What I could also do with this idea is film it in a variety of places to see what is most effective. Currently what I'm expecting to be most effective is filming it in the black box studio against a background. I could use either a black background, or a white background and then light it to change the colour.
Depending on how everything turns out, I'd like to take some high quality photographs of my SFX looks and then maybe get them printed off to some how incorporate them into the interactive part of the project. I would also like to have some to keep for future reference to show people what I can create- as long as its good enough. I think that I could make some really effective photographs, if I edit them creatively on photoshop I could create something really interesting.
Below I'm going to post some photos of some interesting SFX makeup to give me some inspiration as to what I could create, and how I could potentially edit my photographs that I take.

I also want to look at some artists for inspiration. I find surreal artwork really interesting, because you as the viewer can interpret it the way you like. You can look at it from lots of different perspectives, and notice new things each time you look at it. This isn't specific to surreal art though, as with any art the longer you look at it, the more you appreciate it due to all the small details you notice.
An artist I found while searching the internet named Jeremy Geddes creates some really unique art. Here are a few of his pieces:

I found another artist who's name is Jessica Ledwich who creates surreal photographs using photo-manipulation. She also creates sculptures, but my favourite work's of hers are her photographs particularly those from her "Monstrous Feminine" collection as it shows the pressures and struggles that women have to look "beautiful". Seeing her works has really inspired me, and I think that for definite she's going to influence me in this project. I'd like to focus on the pressures that are on young girls to be a certain way that is socially accepted as being "beautiful" or "sexy". I'm going to both take photographs and create videos. Then I can use the videos for the visual and possibly audio side of things, then the interactive part will use the photographs some how. Here are some of Jessica's works:
